Name: Basics of Technical Sciences and Information Technology for Education

The possible combinations of studies (while studying a two-course teacher studies): Applicants can choose their two-course combination from the offer of study programs B7507 Specialisation in Education Sciences and B7506 Special Education Geography (at the Faculty of Science) Physical Education (at the Faculty of Physical Culture) Physics (at the Faculty of Science) An assumed number of admitted students in the academic year 14/15 : 50 students in a full-time study, 30 students in a combined form of study

Characteristics of the study programme:

The educational aim of this particular study programme is to create optimal conditions for the acquirement of a set of competences that are necessary for the future employment of the study programme's graduate, i.e. their abilities to prepare others for a life in the informational-technical society. The set of subjects/disciplines of this study programme is divided into specialized disciplines, which have a shaping character (a broader scientific base), and disciplines containing broader context of technology and information technology. The necessary components are optional disciplines which broaden student's knowledge. The two-year-long master study programme "Teaching Technical Education and Information Technology for Secondary Schools and Lower Secondary Schools" is a follow-up of this study programme.

Character and possible employment of the graduate:

The graduate of this study programme is, primarily, prepared to successfully continue in their studies in the following master study programme of Teaching Technical Education and Information Technology for Secondary Schools and Lower Secondary Schools. The graduate has a general knowledge and manages a general skills and approaches in their field of study. They is prepared to apply the scientific and technical knowledge in a creative way and to facilitate the creation of desirable connections and attitudes towards the technosphere, the technology and to application of the information technologies and technology itself.

The future employment of the graduates is possible mainly in the field of education: at the institutions providing lower secondary or higher secondary education (ISCED 2, ISCED 3, basic schools, special schools, technical lyceums, vocational schools and practical schools), as the administrators of the computer network and specialized laboratories, professional advisors for the use of the IT, creators of the web pages, leaders of the technical interest group activities, experts providing solution of the technical issues in instruction at schools etc.

Entry exam: Scholastic aptitude test.

Characteristics of the study programme:

The study programme "Information Technology for Education" is a programme, whose priority is to create a basis for the following teacher's preparation; however, the graduate of this study programme only is also employable. The programme is focused on the field of the information education while considering it a solid component of the preparation of the basic schools' pupils and students of various types of secondary schools of the Czech Republic. There are not only subjects/disciplines of informatics and mathematics nature included in the programme, but also the basics of electrotechnology and electronics, in order to teach and enable the graduate to mediate all necessary terms of the information activity, knowledge of the software structure, programming, function of the IT, knowledge of the operating systems and also the technical knowledge.

The graduate of this study programme is, primarily, prepared to successfully continue in their studies in the following master study programme of Teaching Technical Education and Information Technology for Secondary Schools and Lower Secondary Schools. The graduate has a general knowledge and manages a general skills and approaches in their field of study. They is prepared to apply the scientific and technical knowledge in a creative way and to facilitate the creation of desirable connections and attitudes towards the information technologies. The graduates may work at schools, school administration, educational organizations, or in the private sector as: administrators of LMS applications and systemsweb-apps programmers and web-designers, web-masters administrators of the information systems of the educational organizations, computer labs and classrooms creators and administrators of the distance e-learning courses, advisors for the authors of the educational contenttechnical workersworkers dealing with the computer technology in the educational context programmers and developers of the educational applications lectors of special courses of computer technology at schools and personal centres of larger companies

Superordinate study programme: Teaching for secondary schools

Form and length of the study, ac. degree: Master study programme (a follow-up of the bachelor study programme), full-time form, two-course, 2 years, Mgr.

The possible combinations of studies (while studying a two-course teacher studies):

  • Applicants can choose their two-course combination from the offer of study programs B7507 Specialisation in Education Sciences and B7506 Special Education
  • Geography (at the Faculty of Science
  • )Physical Education (at the Faculty of Physical Culture)
  • Physics (at the Faculty of Science)

An assumed number of admitted students in the academic year 14/15: 30 students in a full-time study, 20 students in a combined form of study

Characteristics of the study programme:

The educational aim of the study programme is to provide a whole and professional master's education preparing the graduate for the instruction of the subjects, courses or projects of the technical education and information technology (IT itself or IT for education) in the educational institutions. The graduates of this study programme acquire a specific knowledge and abilities in the field of technical education, ICT, contemporary didactic concepts, and methodology approaches to the instruction of the technology-based and informatics-based subjects.

Character and possible employment of the graduate:

The study programme prepares the graduates for realization of the user-oriented approach to the technology and to the ICT; for the realization of the instruction of technical education and information technology in the school conditions. Apart from the instructional activities themselves, they are also ready to perform the role of the ICT coordinator according to the Koncepce státní informační politiky ve vzdělávání ("Conception of the state information policy in the education"), to work as advisors and instructors in the field of application and development of the ICT at school, to lead and organize the activities oriented on the pupils' work with a use of technology, and to administer school information computer systems The future employment of the graduates is possible mainly in the field of education: at the institutions providing lower secondary or higher secondary education (ISCED 2, ISCED 3, basic schools, special schools, technical lyceums, vocational schools and practical schools), as ICT coordinators and administrators of the school computer information systems. They can also find employment as lectors or organizing operatives in the educational institutions, and in the sphere of corporate education.

Entry exam:

Scholastic aptitude test, alternatively a selection procedure based on the results of the previous bachelor or master studies, while the applicants will be assessed according to the range of their studies and to the weighted arithmetic mean of their grades in the bachelor (or master) study programme of their previous study. Also the out-of-school activities during the previous study will be considered. Conditions for admission: completion of the bachelor level in the study programme "Basics of Technical Sciences and Information Technology for Education" completion of the bachelor or master (so-called "long study programme" - 5-year-long study) in a related technical-oriented field of study (technical education, information education, etc.).
