Educational, research and publication activities

Provision of instruction

THEORETICAL instruction is realised in the lecture halls that are equipped with modern audio-visual technology and devices that should deepen the students' acquirement of new knowledge during their studies. The specialized workplaces of the department include both laboratories, and specialized workrooms with surrounding workplaces.

1. Educational activities

By a decision of the accreditation commission, a validity of the accreditation for the full-time and combined form of a Bachelor's degree study programme Basics of Technical Sciences and Information Technology for Education, and a Master's degree study programme, Teaching Technical Education and Information Technology for Secondary Schools and Lower Secondary Schools on the Faculty of Education of Palacký University Olomouc. Department of Technical Education and Information Technology guarantees the study in a full-time and in a combined form of these study programmes:

a) Basics of Technical Sciences and Information Technology for Education;

b) Information Technology for Education;

c) Master's degree study programme, Teaching Technical Education and Information Technology for Secondary Schools and Lower Secondary Schools;

d) of information technology in studies common for all of the study programmes of the faculty;

e) of special disciplines in the study programme of Teaching for Primary School;

f) of special disciplines in the study programme of Teaching for Primary School and Special Education;

g) of special disciplines in the study programme of Teaching for Nursery School.

The Faculty of Education of Palacký University Olomouc has always a right to perform:

  • rigorosum proceedings and to award a "small"doctorate abbreviated as PhDr. in the study programme Technical Education and Information Technology;
  • doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in the study programme 75-01 Pedagogika (technical-education-oriented)

2. Research and publication activities

The staff of the Department of Technical Education and Information Technology are focusing in their research and publication activities mainly on the issues concerning:

  • field-specific methodologies, methodology of the technical education and information technology (theoretical and applied part);
  • general and field-specific material science, terminology;
  • construction and electronic kits;
  • pupils' attitudes to the ICT, new roles of a teacher and a pupil in the information society, evaluation of the educational programs;
  • technical education - as a humanistic model's component of an undergradual preparation of a teacher;
  • educational informatics for the instructors (from the field of the vocational education).
